Hello Everyone,
Thought I would give you all heads up and let you know Margie Reid was the wonderful lady from the United Pilot's Wives group that knitted some beautiful afghans for "our wounded soldiers" this last year. C arlie Meeker from our Cedar Park Assembly of God headed up the ministry there with her group of ladies "knitting for the lamb". They too joined the ranks of putting together some great patriotic afghans for our men and women being transported home form the front lines. They are 35" x 60" inches.
We are trying to obtain the pattern for the liners being made to keep our troops warm in the winter months under the helmets. Thought you all might enjoy working in this area!
If any of you know anything about this pattern that has recently been brought out from WWII times or if your local knitting group might be interested in doing some, please let us know. They are very simple and can be made in two evenings.
Also, if there is anyone you know that could assist in getting some yarn donated for our troops, or purchase some at a great price, please share it with us. I can handle the communications with these people/organizations.
Thanks for everyone's response, and looking forward to all . If you would like to join this area of the ranks here at home please contact me through operationiraq.org. Margie would love to have you be a part of this area. Together this year we can include several hundred of these warm liners in this year's Christmas packages... and make them the best yet! .
Blessings,
Ruth Ann Young
Thank you once again for your continuing support. Together we have sent the Spirit of Christmas to the front lines. Blessings to you and your loved ones throughout the holiday season.
